Five on Friday

::: 1 :::
Leo went to his first movie this week! The movie theater at the Grove here in LA (and a few other Pacific theaters in the area) they host a "Mommy and Me Movie" every Monday at 11am. It's really cute actually, they set up a changing station in the front, keep the lights lighter than usual and the volume of the movie a little lower. There were probably 25 other mom's and their babes, and no one cared when babies cried or needed to be changed, everyone was just happy to be out.

We saw "Love the Coopers" and it was quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. Do not waste your money.

Unfortunately, that was our only outing this week because Leo started to have a little cold. He had a runny nose and was congested, and it just broke my heart. I sort of panicked and begged my doctor to see us at 4:45pm (and thankfully she did), and when we got in, Leo, of course was perfect and adorable and barely looked sick. She assured me that that is always the way, and gave us instructions to get him feeling better as quick as possible.

Christmas table... or maybe you can use that decor for Thanksgiving... or... http://www.wnetrzazewnetrza.pl/2013/12/swiateczny-sto.html:
This weekend the Christmas decorations are going up! I was going to wait until the day after Christmas, but I think the decorations will make our Thanksgiving much more festive, so we're going for it a week early!

Every time I do laundry I feel like I rearrange Leo's dresser and closet. I just do not like my system and can't figure out a better way. Any tips for how you keep babies clothes divided and organized? It's driving me crazy.

This holiday season has come from no where for me. I'm still in such a time warp - it sort of feels like I'm just going through the motions. I'm sort of faking it til I make it - so here goes nothing.

Newborn Photoshoot

All of our pictures were taken by Jordana from Hazelnut Photography. We used her for our engagement pictures as well and would highly recommend her if you live in LA!

Weekend Report

Ahhh, it was quite a week around here last week. It was one of those weeks were it was just sort of one thing after the next...

Joel wasn't feeling well mid-week and was complaining of a sore throat, so he went to CVS quick care, took a strep swab that came back negative, and the nurse said to just keep hands clean and ride the virus wave.

That next morning, after we had been noticing Roscoe licking his leg a lot, we woke up and found it was really, really infected. We took him to the vet, they were able to give him antibiotics, but Roscoe is in pain and has major cone depression.

Thursday night I was ready for a happy hour play date at my friend Shelby's. It was nice to get out of the house for a bit and just hang with these cute babes.

Friday, my cousin Amanda arrived, and literally as soon as she walked in the house, Joel called and said that his 48 hour strep test actually came back positive. He was able to get on antibiotics that afternoon, my doctor put me on a Z-pack to be on the safe side, and Leo's pediatrician said strep is pretty uncommon in babies, so we've just been watching him closely.

It was great to have my cousin Amanda around for an extra set of hands - and Friday night we ordered pizza and everyone was in bed early. The only good thing about strep is that once your on antibiotics - you quickly feel better - so Joel was a major trooper and took a lot of Leo duty on Saturday.

Amanda asked me to be her maid of honor in her wedding next year, so Saturday we went out bridesmaids dress shopping and celebrated with lunch at Villa Blanca.

It was quite a big weekend of asks, because while Amanda was here, we asked her to be Leo's Godmother - and she truly soaked up every free second loving on her Godson.

Saturday night, her, my cousin Erin and I went out to dinner at Coast in Santa Monica. Joel and Leo had planned to join us, but decided to stay home so Joel could rest up and not push it. Joel was so kind and had a bottle of champagne sent to our table the second we sat down as a thank you to me (which, please) and instructions to fully enjoy this impromptu girls night out. I can't tell you how much the gesture meant to me -He's such a good guy.

And fun we had. Even though I really missed my boys - I needed a few hours to be out on my own, it was just what the doctor ordered.

Sunday we spent the day at home as a family, worked on Christmas cards, took a nice walk and hung out at a coffee shop, and capped off the weekend with chicken pot pies since it was a cool and rainy day in LA.

Last week was a doozy but, when things like the attack in Paris happen, I'm quickly and tragically reminded of how good life truly is and how thankful we need to be for every breath. My heart breaks for all of the families and friends who've lost loved ones in my most favorite city.
