My lovely boyfriend just became an uncle. And not just any uncle but an uncle to that adorable little boy that his brother Jake and sister-in-law Lauren had this morning. I wish them nothing but the best for their little family. I'm so excited for their new precious family.

We leave for Florida in the morning and I need to get busy with the following:

1. paint nails
2. apply tanner
3. pluck eye brows
4. take a bath
5. pack purse
6. organize magazines, books, and dvds

*you know all the important stuff

Holy Spring Break

I am officially on spring break, which should be a good thing. However, I had a long, long, day at work that included a "nice" negative assessment on my performance, and I'm not feeling as excited and relieved as I was hoping to feel. I don't really want to dwell on it so I'm going to just have to work harder and put on my A game.

I leave for Florida Monday and I promise to have some personal pictures by then - I myself am getting sick of online pics so I will have a whole new batch of photos next week.

I hope you all have a wonderful spring vacation. Lots of love and positive energy.
XOXO

Getting There

I don't know about you but I spend more time getting ready to go to an airport than I do for work. For me, the airport is a real life runway (no pun intended). Everyone knows airports are people watching hot spots, right? Well think about it, if you're watching other people...other people are watching you. May as well look hot while you have thousands of eyes on you.

Look hot, make it look easy, and be comfortable. God forbid your plane gets delayed 8 hours, you better have an outfit that will look good after laying on the floor. I always layer, and I always have a scarf.

Here's a typical airplane outfit for me:
Outfit#1:
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity (I <3 these)
Shoes: Jcrew
Shades: Ray Ban
Sweater: DKNY
Tank: Shopbop
Scarf: Shopbop

Outfit #2:
Leggings: Splendid
Shoes: Goldies
Watch: Michael Kors
Top: Tucker
Bag: Miu Miu
Scarf: Shopbop

Florida Day Outfits

I can't wait to start packing tomorrow! The week is whizzing by and the weather has been making me so happy with the spring breeze and loads of sunshine.

These are the types of outfits that I want to wear for the day time - shopping, walking, sunset cocktail, lunch-time, etc. Reality is that I'll probably end up in my swim cover-up for the whole day, but maybe one of the days I can pull together a cute look life the following :)

xoxo

Outfit #1: Top- Tory Burch, Shorts - Tory Burch, Shoes - Sam Eldman (??)
Outfit #2: Top - Forever 21 Skirt - Forever 21 Shoes - Jcrew
Outfit #3: Top - Milly Shorts - Joe's Jeans Shoes - Tory Burch

*I personally hate to wear the same designer from head to toe and it sort of makes me cringe that on both outfit #1 & #2 I did that. Just had to throw that out there!

So I'm off shopping. My nice daddy left me his credit card so let's go see how much damage I can do. I'm so excited! Putting together this little inspiration board should help me stay on task! Last night I spent like two hours on SanDestin.com checking out the paradise I'll be in in just one short week. We are staying in a house in Baytown.....I'll give you all of those details later...For now - What do you think of my pre-shopping?!

Florida in one week

Woo - I'm so excited to get out of this Chicago snow. This week I'm going to post inspirations boards of the clothes I'm "feeling" for spring break in Destin. I won't be buying any of these items but it's where I'm going to draw from when I get to pack next weekend. Let me know what you think. I really like to dress like the state I'm in so I'm trying hard for a very "Florida" vibe.

The top two dresses are Lily Pulitzer. Bottom left is Rachel Pally and bottom left is Derek Lam

Happy St. Patricks Day

May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

Deal of the Year

Can we please talk about the best deal I've scored in a very, very, very long time. I scooped up a pair of $330.00 Cole Haan, brown, leather, knee-high boots.

How much did I pay? $90.00.

I went shopping for a pair of Hunter Wellingtons. I wanted hunter green or black. The 9 was too big, and the 8 was too small so I didn't buy them. Instead I went on a mad hunt for leather boots. After visiting bloomies, neimans, nordstroms, and nordstrom's rack, I popped into Macy's. Every boot was 75% off. It was like my heaven. I started hoarding boots in all sizes and then found my babies.

P.S. they have them here for 180

Allegria

Weekends go way too fast! With a job fair on Saturday that had me up at 5:45am, and in line for 5 hours, the weekend almost feels un-sufficent enough. However, last night, Joel and I joined his parents at the Sears Center to take in Cirque Du Soleil "Alegria". The show was 2.5 hours of pure entertainment. The moves these people can do are seriously unspeakable. You watch them, almost forgetting that they are humans.

Tonight is Oscar night! My favorite part of the Oscars are the dresses, so tomorrow I'll try and post my favorite hits and misses. Hope you enjoy your Sunday.

So-So progress

2-day progress report:

  • I did workout both yesterday morning and this morning. I woke up at 5:55 and was able to get out the door at 6:15. It requires me to be outrageously organized the night before - but that is something I'm pretty good at. I lay out my breakfast (an Emergen-C, english muffin, organic peanut butter, a clementine, and green tea) in pack-able containers. I heat it all up at work. I lay out my workout clothes, and pack my work clothes in a gym bag. My lunch is packed and ready to go in the fridge.
  • In the morning, I groggily throw my clothes on, pop a few blueberries in my mouth, and head on my way. I can get in 38 (<< ocd) minute workouts. Yesterday I walked up hill for 30 minutes and ran for 8. This morning I walked up hill for 19 minutes, ran for 6, and lifted weights for the last 10.
  • I have almonds as my snack until lunch
  • My lunches are packed the night before too, and are healthy...but somehow something naughty always sneaks in. For example: 1. testing has been going on at school, therefore the pta brought in tons of snacks 2. it's always someones birthday 3. today, someone just happened to pick me up a big sugar cookie which was too delicious to pass up
  • Dinner was okay....I had fruit and a steak sandwich. I ordered it from our country club and they put too much butter on the bread, but it's not like I complained ;)
Wow - That has to be more than you cared to read about! Weekends are always hard for me but I'm going to try to be disciplined. Happy Friday!

Okay, that is like self-torture. How rude of myself!!

Spring Break

I'm going to Destin, Florida! Only have to wait 3.5 weeks. Which is awesome, because time sure does fly....but not so awesome because I have to get bikinni ready....QUICKLY. So, I'm stealing a little "operation" from this cute lady, Mrs. Everlasting. It's called Operation - Get Hot.

OGH (operation get hot....hello!) Is going to include me not acting like 12yr old boy by restricting food intake and getting to the gym 4 times a week.

Ideally, I would like to lose 6 pounds in this time. I didn't weigh myself this morning but I will tomorrow. I really need to be consistent. I haven't been good lately so it's going to be a challenge. Thankfully I started my day at the gym but.....snacked on a few twizzlers, marshmellows, and girl scout cookies in the teacher's lounge. Whoops.....

Alright. Hope I can do it. I'll keep you updated (which will keep me accountable!)
