What was the craziest planning month of your wedding? Do you think I'm on pace? Anything I'm missing from this list?

  1. The craziest {and most stressful} for me was the month before the wedding. Waiting for RSVPs to return so I could work on a seating chart was such a pain. It's amazing to me how people lack such common courtesy...RSVP'ing for 4 when only 2 were invited, people RSVP'ing and then NOT showing up, and people that just didn't RSVP at all...how rude!!

So far, it sounds like you're doing a great job! I think some of the smaller details are more fun anyways. One thing I didn't see...welcome bags/boxes for people that are staying at hotels?

  2. I wish I could start my planning finally. We got engaged almost 2.5 years ago (2010) but there have been a few obstacles in the way. I always wanted to have a summer wedding and we got engaged in August. But before planning a wedding for the summer after I wanted to make sure I could move to Denmark first (I am German, fiancé is Danish) and by the time I had moved, started Grad school here and got a job it was Spring 2011 and not enough time to plan. We then went through a rather rough patch for about half a year and when we were back on track it was Spring again (2012 now) and too late to plan for this year. This summer now the fiancé moved abroad to Germany (no, not kidding - after I moved up here for him) and we have to see first where he/will be living by next summer. So no wedding plans for 2013 either. But a few weeks ago we said that 2014 would be the year - no matter what. And I can't wait to start the planning.

    Love, S.

  3. I agree, getting RSVPs back was a huge pain in the ass. I had people just not RSVP at all or people who wanted to bring more guests with them than invited. I also didn't wear a garter. What are you doing for your guest book?

  4. I'd say you're right on track! The last vendor I booked was our cake, and that was at 6 months out. I think we did tuxes 2 months out. I did hair and makeup trials the week before, since I thought doing them any further out than that, the person would "forget." haha

The last couple months I spent organizing everything, and printing out all the rest of the paper stuff like programs, table numbers, escort cards, etc. I wanted to make sure I had nothing big left to do the month leading up to it so I wouldn't stress.

Also, a little tidbit of advice, for RSVP's, I put the RSVP date on the invite about 10 days before actual need be, allowing those last minute people to get theirs in and track people down if necessary. I also got a pen that was invisible in writing, but shining a light over it would show the ink. I assigned each card a number with the corresponding person, in case no one wrote their names. And I actually had a couple people do that to me.

  5. You are totally on top of it girl! I'm going to agree with everyone else and say that the last month is absolutely the most stressful and emotional, but it also flies by the fastest. It's a whirlwind that ends in the best possible outcome. Six months till your done with wedding planning forever! Woohooo!

  7. The last few weeks are an absolute circus! The best you can do is get as much done as you can ahead of time so that when the crises come up (they inevitably always do) you'll have time to handle them. By the looks of your list, you're doing a great job! My only recommendations are to make sure you make time for yourself - schedule a massage, your bridal manicure, hair cut/color, etc. You'll have so much to do in the coming days before the wedding, but it's those moments where you are forced to take a break and really take it all in! Congratulations! I hope that your wedding day is as happy and magical as mine certainly was!

  8. Sounds like you are on top of it! The last month was crazy for us, but then again, I was working full time and taking a full load of classes. We just made a big list to-do list for the last month and tried to tackle it was quickly as possible. I second leaving some time to yourself for a hair appointment, a massage, etc. It will all come together!
