This weekend was finally cold enough for me to break out my j.crew vest - and I wore it all freaking weekend.
Friday night we tried a new sushi spot in West LA called "En Sushi". We've found great high-end sushi spots, and decent hole in the wall places, but this was the first spot we've found were you can get good drinks and fancy rolls, and manage to get out of there for under $100.00.
And yet again, I somehow managed to finish a 6.2 mile run along Eagle Rock/Topanga Mountain.
The first 3 miles, clearly....suck. But I take breaks when I need them, and keep water close by, and do my best to just get through it. Luckily, the way down is much more fun than the way up - so we finished the route at 1:25 - and no dry heaving this time.
After the run, we stopped at Joel's favorite restaurant, Reel Inn in Malibu, for local fish and a beer. We spent the rest of the afternoon watching all of our college football teams lose. Since we were sad, tired, and freaking sore....we did what any California local would do when they need a little pick me up.
And boy did it hit the spot. We had a glass of wine and we were both asleep by 10pm.
I dropped Joel off at the airport early Sunday morning since he is away on business for the next week and got busy on laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, and an afternoon walk.
It was a quiet weekend - just what we needed since our next visitor, Claire, arrives on Wednesday!
Sounds like a great weekend. What a gorgeous running route, although the uphill looks deadly!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, go you for tackling those hills!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh- you make me feel lazy! Way to go on the run. Just started a blog, hope you'll check it out. It's kind of blah so far so any advice you've got is welcomed!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the vest!
