Brain Dump

Freeze whipped cream on a cookie sheet and use a cookie cutter to make hot chocolate hearts. | 38 Clever Christmas Hacks That Will Make Your Life Easier
:::I think because it's not cold and snowy, I have to try extra hard to get into the Christmas spirit, so Christmas music has started and I'm sneaking in Hallmark Christmas anytime Joel isn't home.

:::When is the best time to send out Christmas cards? I don't want to be the first or the last, so I'm thinking maybe December 10th?

:::We've been hating the limited wine selection at Sprouts- and paying way over retail - so we've started buying cases from different wineries when they go on sale. We're getting way better wine for what we are paying (about the same per bottle) and it feels like our grocery bills each week are a little less "shocking". Our last few shipments have been from Milbrandt Vineyards.

:::Speaking of wine, we have our first Napa trip planned for January and I'm already salivating

:::I'm averaging 6 days a week of leggings

:::Normally I love Christmas shopping, but I haven't even started and already it feels too expensive.

:::Since we have family staying with us over Thanksgiving, we aren't going to be able to get our Christmas decorations up until Monday, December 1st. That just doesn't feel like enough time to fully enjoy the anticipation! I'm ready for Thanksgiving to fall on the 19th again.

:::We read a Christmas book to Roscoe this week. We've lost it.

:::Since my half marathon, I haven't run at all. My foot really took a beating the last few weeks of training so I'm trying to get in yoga and spin twice a week and long walks on the off days.

:::I need a good easy-read book to get through. I enjoyed Lena Dunham's book, but it wasn't amazing. I need another Big Little Lies in my life.

:::I have no idea what I want for Christmas, or what to get anyone

:::This year Joel and I are going to really narrow down what holiday traditions we want to start and/or keep. I'm all about traditions, and I want to make sure we follow through on all of the things we want to do.

:::I've been spending so much time on Pintrest lately - I think it's my favorite website of all.

:::I'm in need of new slippers but I can't stomach spending more than $20 for them. Are the ugg slippers really worth it?

:::Daylight savings is actually ok with me. I sort of enjoy it getting darker earlier this time of year.

:::Michael's has a 40% off sale on their pillar candles in case you are in need. I've been filling my fireplace with candles from Crate & Barrel, which was getting way too expensive, so I picked up 10 big pillar candles for a total of $22 bucks.

:::Happy almost weekend!

  1. So glad I'm not the only one living in leggings! I don't want anything to do with my jeans... they are just SO not comfy in comparison! And Pinterest - I'm obsessed. Going to follow you there now!

  2. I love this post.

    1. Where do you like to buy your leggings?
    2. Ugg slippers are worth it; Zappos has some good cheaper knock offs
    3. HOORAY with that Michael's tip, thank you. I have to head there for some Christmas decor (I KNOW) soon.

  3. Thanks for the tip on the candles. I need to get some of those!
I love my lands end slippers and you can always get a discount on those.

  4. I can't get enough of Pinterest recently, either. And I have slippers from LL Bean, they were purchased in a major after Christmas sale and they're amazing!

  5. Re: Wine - check out the website Wines Til Sold Out. It's a flash sale website that has great deals.
Also, LL Bean always has good slippers, but I do love my Ugg Dakotas. You can wear them outside and I've had them for years and they still look new.

  6. I've been listening to Christmas music, so no judging on the Hallmark channel watching! Where do you get your leggings? And are they thicker so when you bend over or stretch you can't see through them. That's my current beef with the two pairs I bought at Target! If Roscoe starts requesting book readings....I will then get worried but til then, I think y'all are sane :)

  7. I felt the same way about Lena Dunham's book. I just finished Yes Please by Amy Poehler and it was excellent!

I'm definitely struggling with what to ask for this Christmas. Maybe slippers would be a good gift idea to ask for yourself? I have a pair from Jcrew Factory that I love.

  8. Girl, Cameron got me a pair of fuzzy type slippers from Target 2 years ago and I am obsessed with them! Can't remember the brand off the top of my head though. They're like shoes, but fuzzy. :) I accidentally wore them to a restaurant one time.

  9. I wanted to grab Lena Dunham's book, but have heard lots of "meh" reviews, which kind of surprised me!

I need a new pair of slippers, too. I've pretty much narrowed it down to LLBean/Lands End. I would hate to spend $$$ on freakin' house shoes for them to fall apart. At least with those 2 companies, they have no questions asked guarantees.

  10. I ordered the Ugg slippers but my size was way too small. I would try them on the store first to make sure they fit.

I also like it getting darker early right now. It is cold and snuggly couch weather.

  11. I firmly believe leggings are pants and I don't even care.

I have target slippers from last year and I loove them. I'm thinking about getting another pair because... $20.

We put our Christmas decorations up yesterday, because we had a rare day off together and why not... however, today I got a mini/big promotion for Christmas so... probably best we got it out of the way cause life just got a crap ton more hectic.

  12. LOL to reading to Roscoe. Love it.

I was just thinking about when to send out our Christmas cards. And I was thinking, I always hate getting them later in the month because then they're not on display as long. So I plan on sending mine out right after Thanksgiving, since it's so late in the month anyway. So hopefully by the 1st they'll be in the mail.
