Wedding Wednesday: The other dress(es)

Last night, my girlfriend Laura and I had a drink at Pink Taco before we met a bigger group of girls. Laura is a newlywed and I so I love picking her brain about all the tiny details that go into a wedding. One of my most recent questions was what to wear to showers.

I have 5 showers from February to May, which means that I need to start stock piling lots and lots of dresses (and shoes) for all of these lovely events.

I've heard recently that the bride should wear white to all of the showers. Stand out as a the bride, I guess.

White dresses are hard to come by - and not always the most flattering - so every time I'm out shopping my eyes are peeled. These are a few in the stores now that I'm obsessing over.

Did you wear white to your showers? Do you think the Bride should?

  1. I love the idea of wearing white!! Check out White House Black Market I saw an adorable white dress and a few cute white skirts that would pair great with a flowy blouse! Good luck shopping!!

  3. I like the idea of wearing white as well, but I think it's totally fine to switch things up. Especially with SO many events. :)

  4. I think that's an awful idea!I'm such a spiller and I look horrid in white! I'm pretty sure everyone there is going to know that you're the bride!

  5. I love the idea of wearing white to everything! Another option is to wear your wedding color to everything too... My friend did that a few years ago and I thought it was a fun idea. Another option for white dresses is Rent the Runway! Are you on there? They have lots of 'bride' options for showers.

  6. Oh I LOVE those. Gorgeous.

I didn't wear white to any of my showers, but wore something that went along with the theme. I wore a simple dress for my first with my family, a dress with flowers for my tea garden party for my second, and my third was a Breakfast at Tiffany's theme. I had a hard time finding a black dress that I loved, but found one that had white on the top with cute black flowers lining the collar, and black on the bottom. I decided for that one it was ok there was white in it since I was the bride. ;)

  7. Awww, yay for a blog shout out! ;)
I LOVE the first Shelli Segal dress!
I'm not sure if you shop on gilt, but I ordered an adorable white Shoshanna dress for at least half price. Someone mentioned Rent the Runway, which is a great idea, because it is rather hard to find occasions to wear white dresses post-wedding. I think white is fun for some of the more bridal-y events, but I wouldn't feel pressured for evening and more formal events. Gold or silver can also be very bridal, along with your wedding colors.
