weekend riots

Right now I'm laying on the couch, haven't showered since Friday, with dirty feet and tired legs.

Quite the pretty image, no?

---

Saturday morning, I left the city at 8:30 in the morning and headed home to Crystal Lake to help my mom get set up for Nellie's graduation party.
My mom threw a "mother/daughter luncheon" with 12 girls from Nell's high school and their mom's.

The weather didn't turn out so well, so we set up 3 tables of 8 in the dining room.
My mom served (and made) an orzo salad, cesar salad, macaroni salad, and 2 sandwiches; chicken salad and roast beef.

Nellie is a huge fan of "DC Cupcakes" and insisted on ordering a dozen cupcakes from the D.C. location.

Surprisingly they all shipped fashionably well and were absolutely delicious.
For dessert, I was in charge of gathering candy in Nellie's school colors, orange and black.

Needless to say all of the pretty guests were well served.
The party was a success and I left around 3 to head back into the city for the next party.

Annie made it safely from Maine to Chicago, and we barely had enough time to catch up before we were heading to the "Wine Riot"

Luckily I was able to wear the same digs for both events.

Wine Riot is an event for the "under 30 crowd" that is all about learning, trying, and drinking new wines in a "fun" way.

Boy, was it fun.

The event was held at Union Station in Great Hall and had music, food, and 250 booths of wine. They had mini wine classes (think: Price Whore No More) throughout the night, and Annie, Joel, Kyle, and I had an amazing night.

Thankfully I was smart and went right to bed when we got home, because the other three fools stayed up until 4 in the morning polishing off a few more bottles of wine and debating what one debates when intoxicated!

The event was a huge success, and absolutely worth the $50 ticket,so if you live in NY or DC, check it out because those are the next two stops on their tour.
