July Goals

I feel like I blinked and June disappeared.

I keep finding myself talking about Thanksgiving plans, and decorating for the holidays, and when we should buy our plane tickets, and so on and so forth - and while that is great, this season is slipping through my fingers.

.
I really want to take time to focus in on July and what's happening now. We have five weeks in July and I want to soak it all up.

Stick to Half Marathon training 100%...

inspiration
I'm not giving up on this half marathon, and I really want to invest in the training. I like operating on a fitness schedule, and I'm actually looking forward to upping my workouts to 6x/week. I'm in decent running shape, so I want to capitalize while I can and get myself trained to not only finish the race, but finish it well.

Go outside after work...
Log off, shut down, go outside.
It's so easy for Joel and I to eat dinner, turn on the TV, keep the computers on our lap, and watch four or five hours slip by. We have such better weeks when we make an effort to play tennis on Tuesdays,  take a long walk, or even just eat our dinner out on the patio.  I want to make an effort to unplug, go outside, and mix it up a little during the work week.

Clean out the carbs...
health
Whoa - especially after my trip home to Chicago, I really need to re-focus and cut the junk. I lost about 15 pounds for my wedding by cutting out carbs, and since introducing them (the day after my wedding, about a year ago), I've gained about 7-8 back. I haven't stressed about it because I spent so much time last year stressing, but it's time to peel them off now.

Read at least 2 new books...
I'm in a major reading zone, and in June I think I got through 3 or 4 great books. My first book of July is going to be the new Jenifer Wiener but I also want to re-read The Secret and The Happiness Project too. Any other beach read recommendations?

Finish our wedding album and start one for our France trip...

My original goal was to finish our wedding album by our first year, and I was a big fat failure on that one. I'm about 75% done with it though, so I'm positive I'll have it ordered by the end of this month.  More to come on this topic, for sure.

No more bullshit.

I'm the queen of excuses and have been slacking in the discipline area of my life. My closet needs to be organized, I need to be more focused at work, I can't forget to send cards....that kind of thing. This month I vow to get back on my A-Game and just 'getter done.

  2. Good for you! I upgraded my Done Bun yesterday to my Getting Shit Done Bun and you know, focus and moxie can really move mountains :)

  3. Love all of these- especially the last one. I am the queen of excuses too and always come up with a million reasons why things can wait. I just read The Husbands Secret and What Alice Forgot- both were good if you haven't read those. I just picked up Me before You but I'm only a few pages in.

  4. Love this list of goals and such a smart thing to do to hold you accountable! The summer is flying by and we all need to take advantage of it and spend as much time outside as possible!

  5. Love your goals. The Jennifer Weiner book is on my list for sure! The Invention of Wings is amazing, as is Etched in Sand. A little deep, but really good :)

  6. I can't believe you're 75% done with your wedding album. Where are you making it through?

Also, I like your idea to stay disciplined this month, but it's such a hectic lunch! Woof.
