Friday Thoughts

Can you believe that New Years Eve was this week? It feels like so much time has passed since then.

Joel and I got home from Mexico on Sunday night, so we decided to just stay in on Monday and enjoy being home with the pup. We made our version of Surf'n'Truf, had some yum champs, and did a little beer tasting towards the end of the night.

We need to do things like a beer tasting, or a game, otherwise we'd both be asleep by 9pm. However, this year, we were up until 12:30, which I think will be omen for 2013!

I went back to work on the 2nd, and was actually excited to get back into the normal swing of things. Right before I left for Mexico I was promoted, so I was looking forward to getting the job going. Nothing about my position really changes, but it's a nice title bump!

While I was at work, I picked up this bottled half and half from our food court and was amazed by it. I try to avoid any drinks that have aspartame in them, so that normally leaves my options to water. This tea is only 100 calories and has a decent ingredient list for a lemonade drink.

Tonight we are going to a Top Chef restaurant in Studio City called Black Liquor Market. Joel's old co-worker and wife from Chicago are in town and had the restaurant on their must-try list. I actually dined there on my trip to California to find our apartment last February, but I was in such a fog at that point, I can't remember anything about the place.

I signed up for another 10k (but this one a road race) on February 9th. I've been lacking running motivation and nothing gets my butt in gear more than a race. Plus, 100% of the raised funds for this race go to research for Pancreatic Cancer - an issue very close to my heart. If you are in the LA area and want to run (Dawn, Carly, Laura.......) I'd love for you to join!

and my training motivation has been this little slogan:
Best advice

Have a fabulous first 2013 weekend!

  4. I'm eager to hear your opinion on Black Market & if it's worth the drive. I loved Antonia on Top Chef, but it's in "the valley" after all. ;)
Your running is so inspiring. I need to get my act together and do a race with you. A 10k in one month might be a little ambitious for me. I guess I could walk it?
