Yesterday, I resigned from my job.
I had a great job. I worked from home selling advertising for a large newspaper here in California. My book of clients was pretty small, so my work load was light. I made average money, but considering my very flexible schedule, it has been a very hard job to give up.
The problem with the job was that I had too much time on my hands.
I felt bored more than I felt challenged. At 2pm, I would literally sit at my dining room table and try and come with up a list of things that I could do to stay busy until Joel came home at 7pm.
Now, don't get me wrong, that schedule will be VERY missed at times. I've been able to take long lunches with friends during the week, skip out of town early on Fridays, manage to cook dinner most nights a week, and really avoid stress for about two years.
But, it's due time for a change.
My new job will be still be in sales, but I'll be selling educational curriculum to schools here in California. My title has jumped to director of sales - and my workload, salary, and schedule have all about doubled.
I'm scared out of my mind that I'm not going to be able to succeed in this job, but I'm excited to give it my best shot. I get my own office, I get to travel, and I get to go back into the education world I thought I had long ago given up.
It's going to be a big, big change but I'm not looking back.
How exciting!! Best of luck.
