Friday Five ::: Paris Fashion

Four weeks from yesterday, Joel and I will be boarding a plane to go explore France.

This is our first "trip" together.

You know, we've vacationed a lot. But we've never faced a true trip just the two of us.

I am so over the moon excited, that I started trying on outfits for the trip yesterday.

And then I got un-excited.

Because, boo, I have no idea what to wear or bring in my carry on for 10 days in Paris.

I decided to pack a little differently for this trip, and break everything into categories. I've got a few shopping trips planned so let me know if I'm missing things.

::: Pants :::
 My Style 111013 - Blog - MyCosmo
  • 1 graphic pant
  • 1 black thick legging pant
  • 1 black jeans
  • 1 cargo pant (if I find them)
I don't like to wear shorts while traveling, so the majority of my "day" clothes will be pants. I'll wear the leggings on the flight and when we take the rail to and from Bordeaux, and the other pants should get plenty of wear as well.

::: Tops :::
liv tyler
  • Basics
  • Stripes
  • Flattering and comfortable
  • Button downs & denim shirt
  • Cardigans
I want to keep it really simple. Since the weather can be really unpredictable in May, I want to be layered everyday.

::: Dresses :::
  • 3 cotton day dresses
  • 1 maxi dress
While we are in Bordeaux, we will be wine tasting at vineyards, so I think I'll wear dresses during those few days. Most of the dresses will be reserved for dinners or champagne at the Eiffel Tower.

::: Shoes :::
casual cool
  • White converse
  • Sturdy sandals (need to buy)
  • Black walking flats (I don't want to bring my great Tory Burch walking flats, but I may end up having too. I'm worried about ruining them so I may try and find a cheaper version)
  • Black Toms Wedges

::: Add-On's:::
layered.
  • Jean Jacket
  • LV Neverfull & black cross body
  • Straw Fedora
  • 2-3 scarves
  • Statement necklaces
  • White blazer

What do you think I'm missing??

  1. It all sounds good! It was chilly when we went so I mostly wore black. I don't know if you've ever been to Europe, but that's the dress code. I thought everyone would be all stylish and well dressed, but sadly no. They got a little more interesting in Paris, but not much. Make sure you take comfy shoes! Cross-body bags are key! A rainproof jacket with a hood is always good to have. Can't wait to hear about your trip!

  3. Sounds like I need you to pick out my clothes for MY next trip! Looks like you've got all the bases covered!

    RE: your black flats- I wouldn't take your good Revas. I'm super paranoid about taking my fave things on vacations after my BFF got her luggage literally SHREDDED on a conveyor belt. Find some cute, cheaper alternatives and give yourself 2-3 weeks of "breaking in" so they'll be perfect for Paris!

  5. Lucky Brand Emmie flats are my go to when I don't want to wear my TB's. Sometimes (dare i say it) I think they are more comfortable. The black matte would be perfect.

    Also my TJ Maxx or Marshall's always have them on sale. I find they are true to size.

  6. First: Yay, so excited for you and the hubby to take an awesome european vacation!

    Second: Yes, I second all of what Amy said. Bring clothes that you can layer. Neutral Cross body bag that you can wear with everything is a must. You may enjoy your sundresses for the wine country, but for the rest of your trip you will probably live in your black pants, easy tops and cardigans or jackets to layer.

  7. Well whatever you buy I'll end up copying for our trip in July haha!! I think you have a great list to go off of - perhaps a fancy dress or something in case you guys go to a really nice dinner!

  8. I wish I had gone a bit more chic when I was in Paris a couple of years ago. I leaned more towards comfort, but I found myself envying all the stylish Parisian ladies and their ability to make the simplest outfit look fab.
    Jealous of your wine-tasting in Bordeaux!

  10. Sounds like you have it covered! I second the crossbody for walking around -I took my Neverfull last time we were playing tourist in NYC and it was so annoying and bulky and I swear I was knocking it into people. Would you take a cute pair of Toms for walking shoes? I feel like TB's suck for long distances (revas and carolines) but I love my Toms when I have a lot of walking to do and don't want to wear tennis shoes.

  11. You may want to consider tennis shoes for walking. When we've been overseas, we walk miles and miles every day, and my running shoes were a lifesaver.

  12. I am super jealous of your trip, and I have very little wardrobe advice because if it were me traveling I would probably send a steamer truck by ferry over because I am a chronic over-packer...

    However, I do stand on my feet all day long and I do obsess over comfortable shoes.

    Please don't consider me low rent because the brand of these shoes were so iffy that I almost didn't bite the bullet... and the bow may not be your style. HOWEVER, I can walk in them all day long, they're super soft, and basically I am blown away by them. I'm sort of afraid to put too many miles on them because they're SO PERFECT, so I haven't worn the soles out yet, but these shoes have some kind of magic in them.

    Don't judge.

    And amazon offers free returns if you hate them, so... win win?
