Five on Friday

I'm not going to lie, I'm sitting here writing this post with a stiff glass of tequila (I'll have a glass of alcohol please). It's been a week. My Father-in-Law was taken to the ER on Monday after being sick for almost 10 days. They finally discovered that his appendix had burst and was creating a pretty nasty infection. I was in the hospital with him and my mother in law all day Monday, and Joel has been stopping at the hospital after work all week. It's been taxing on everyone, and frustrating, and exhausting, and we really just want him to get better and get home. He's tough as nails, but not feeling well, so we're waiting for the antibiotics to really kick in. Send some positive energy our way if you can! We'd really appreciate it.

The only good thing about this dreary, rainy weather? Leo loves it! He could stare out the window for twenty minutes watching the rain fall, trees shake in the breeze, and cars drive down the street with their lights on. Thank God for toddlers - where else would we get such sweet, simple joy?

Also, I finalllllly found a fun, beach read! I'm really enjoying Southern Solstice, and I paid nothing for it! If you have Prime, Amazon started doing a "Borrowing" feature, so I've borrowed the book,

CrockPot update? We are going with the Cusinart multi-cooker, but I haven't bit the bullet on which size. I'm thinking we need to go with the XL size and go with the 7qt!

We're busy this weekend with friends and family and getting our loved ones back to good health, and then next week Joel and I are leaving for Los Angeles! We are so excited to see our friends, so excited to fly without our baby, so excited to watch our sweet friends get married, and so excited to meet our newest niece in San Diego. It's going to be packed ten days!
california love:

  1. Prayers for your FIL! I know that is tough. Also, I tried to respond re: crockpot size via Instagram but I don't think it went through. I say go for the big one. Looks like you have plenty of people around to cook for! :) Hope ya'll have a great weekend!

  2. Good grief! That's nasty stuff when your appendix ruptures. Sending good thoughts to all of you! Patron was well deserved you good daughter in law you! Go for the big crockpot. You'll want it for soups and let's be honest you're going to have this bad boy for a long time. Ahhh 10 days -- how are you going to do that?!!!

  3. And we have this water table and like it except the octopus has faded since we left it in the sun - Step2 Wild Whirlpool Water Table https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IGXUSGY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ERL3ybX7H72M9

  4. Sending many prayers and positive vibes to you and your family. My grandmother recently left the hospital after some scary circumstances, so I know just how taxing and emotionally exhausting it can be to make those hospital trips. Ah, that sweet face staring out the window! Kids have the best perspective on life it seems. Also, I need to check out that borrowing feature on Amazon immediately. So cool!

  5. Oh my goodness, I'm so very sorry to hear about your FIL. I can't imagine how stressful that is for you all, and I will certainly be thinking of your family. Leo couldn't be any more adorable. Life with a toddler isn't always easy, but it is such a gift!

  6. Sending thoughts and prayers to your father in law and family!

  7. So sorry to hear about your father in law. Having a close family member in the hospital is so hard on everyone. Hope those antibiotics kick in soon and he's out of there! Thanks for the borrowing tip on prime. I cringe every time I spend $10 for an ebook that gets read once. I wish we could pass them around! We have the little tikes spiralin seas water park. but I doubt you can go wrong with any of them!
