How do you coffee?

I'm pretty sure our Keurig has finally bit the dust. We've had the bad boy for four years, and in the last few months it's been brewing really, really weak cups of coffee.
 cozy mornings
Ironically in the last few months I've been getting into Latte's.

So, now that my coffee machine is just about dead, I'm sort of thinking about investing in the Nespresso. Do you have it? Is it worth the $400 dollars? And all those damn espresso pods? And do you think the appeal of it dies down after a while?
 Lazy days.
Or do I buy another Keruig ($120), and just splurge on latte's (+$$$)  when I'm out and about. Keep them as a treat?

I only have a 1 cup of coffee/latte a day and Joel doesn't drink any, so I'm not sure a Nespresso would be worth it. Would I still want my non-fat latte from Starbucks too?

I'll tell you, I'm leaning towards swapping out the broken Keurig with a new one and buying lattes as treats during the week......

What do you think?
Coffee, I need coffee

  1. I wouldnt do the Nespresso only because I am too cheap to buy the pods. I use the re-fillable cup in the Keurig and buy latte's when I am out.

  2. I have to agree with Jamie above. Save them for treats! I don't have time in the morning to make lattes anyway! ha! I love my coffee maker that has a timer on it, so when im walking out the door, it's already brewed for me! :) Ideal for a working gal!

  3. I'd go with the Keurig and get the latte's as a treat! That's pretty much what I do. ;)

  4. I agree with everyone else! We (or should I say Mike) pre-makes a ton of coffee and stores it in a giant mason jar in our fridge. We both drink ice coffee so anything other than that when we are out and about is a treat :)

  5. My mom and I have been looking into this baby - http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/nespresso-vertuoline-single-serve-brewer-espresso-maker?ID=1270784&CategoryID=24732#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D2%26kws%3Dnespresso%20vertuoline%26slotId%3D2. It's a Nespresso machine that can do espresso and single serve coffee! Could be a good option but you do have to use only their pods.

  6. I'm going to be the odd man out here and say get a Nespresso! I have one, as well as a normal coffee maker, and I love it. The pods aren't that expensive--you have to buy at least 50 through Nespresso, and it ends up being 50-60 cents a pod, which is way cheaper than a latte from Starbucks. (I haven't gone to a Starbucks in ages).

  7. We LOVE our Nespresso. I love how high quality the coffee is (we had a keurig before & it doesn't even come close). I love the experience they have created for buying the pods at the nespresso boutique and sampling all the different roasts, etc. Dollar for dollar, I don't think the Nespresso pods really cost much more than the Keurgig ones- and they are SO MUCH better. The Nespresso model we have w. milk frother is on sale at Bloomingdales right now for $199 (http://www1.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/nespresso-u-bundle-espresso-maker?ID=878435&CategoryID=3865#fn=spp%3D4%26ppp%3D96%26sp%3D1%26rid%3D%26spc%3D20%26cm_kws%3Dnespresso).

  8. Bed, Bath, and Beyond may swap out your Keurig if you tell them it was purchased there. Not saying you should lie, but.....

  9. I'm wondering if ours isn't on the way out as well, it has recently decided it hates Dunkin Donuts decaf and spits grounds everywhere.

I say stick with the Keurig and buy lattes, I always love them when someone else makes them. Or get an espresso maker, we have a relatively inexpensive one from Target that works great.

  10. I looooove my Nespresso. I usually don't use the milk steamer, but it's great for a treat and SO EASY to clean! Mine was only about $250 and, since I'm in Canada, I can't imagine yours being more expensive than that.
Since you're heading to Paris, be sure to visit the signature Nespresso store on Champs-Élysées. So fabulous!

  11. Bah I am only getting caught up now but we LOVE our nespresso, and I know ours wasnt $400. I hardly ever buy a latte out anymore, and would never go back to another coffee maker
