Friday we celebrated Joel's birthday. We kept it pretty low key, but it turned out to be a really fun night. Joel's brother Andrew, his wife Corie, and their babe Sulley came up from San Diego - so that really kicked off his birthday with a bang. They sat in horrible traffic on the Friday commute from San Diego to LA, but I know they made Joel's whole weekend by being here.
We had a few friends over to join us for pizza and cupcakes which kept life easy for me - but it still felt festive enough to celebrate the birthday boy.
A lot of our friends have had baby boys (including our nephew!), so we had three boys under two as our entertainment for the evening.
They were all hilarious and it was great practice for Roscoe to get used to the chaos that is about to ensue.
Once our friends headed home, we got a chance to just hang with Andrew and Corie and catch up. It's pretty crazy to think the next time we see them we'll have a baby boy of our own to join the squad.
Saturday morning Joel made us all a breakfast of cinnamon rolls, fruit salad, eggs and bacon and then we all went out for a walk in the neighborhood. Time, as it will with 3 hungover adults and one 10 month old, got away from us, and left us with about 12 minutes to get ready for my LA baby shower.
Thankfully Corie and I managed to get ready like speed demons and we made it to the shower with time to spare. One of my best friends Shelby and my cousin Erin hosted a luncheon for me and baby and did an incredible job. The shower was at Shelby's house with all of my LA girlfriends, Corie, and a few of my cousins and not a detail was missed. The afternoon was SO lovely and we were spoiled with such love and generosity the entire afternoon.
I think Joel and I got home from the shower a little after 5 and we were both absolutely cooked. We crawled our exhausted selves into bed before 9 and slept like freaking rocks.
Sunday, after a walk for me and Roscoe and a long run and birthday bbq for Joel, we all took it easy for the rest of the day which was just what the doctor ordered.
And I have to give a little credit to these two cuties. My mom and dad are getting much better at their selfie game as they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this weekend in Colorado. Here's to 30 more!
