What day is it?

Honestly, these days are kind of rolling into each other and there was literally no chance I could keep my eyes open past 8pm yesterday to get a blog post up.

By the time dinner is over, it is all out war between my mind and body on when I can just go the **** to sleep.

Maybe it's because we slam SO much into weekends.

First of all - Friday was a great day because my Father in Law left the hospital. Thanks for your sweet words/notes/check-in's. He's on the up and up but its going to be a process.

Joel's aunt came into town so we had her and my mother in law for dinner - pasta, meatballs, salad, and bread....we drank a lot of wine and just relaxed. It was a really fun night - one that we all needed.

Saturday morning was beautiful. I was able to get in 4 miles, and that distance is starting to feel really do-able for me.

I'm hoping to try for 5 in the next few weeks when the weather is nice. I have a hard time running more than 3 miles on the treadmill, so I'm waiting!

We took Anne to our now favorite lunch spot, Duke's and then headed home for our next batch of guests to arrive.

Our friends came out from the city and we had friends stop over from Iowa. Everyone wanted to see the house, so we started here and then moved the party to Crystal Lake Brewery for happy hour.

We picked up a pizza on the way home and we just hung out the rest of the night. Sara and I laughed that we were drinking tea by 9pm.....my how things have changed.

And, no joke, as soon as Sara and Sean left on Sunday morning around 9:30am....my sisters came in from the city to hang with us for the day.

We hung at our house with the baby and then had dinner with my parents.

We got home from dinner and Joel's aunt and Uncle came back to spend the night with us. I was honestly so tired, I went right into bed, but we got a really special treat in the morning.

Joel's uncle Jim is a professional and fantastic trumpet player and Leo's alarm clock was a pretty spectacular version of the Sesame Street theme song.

There was not a lot of downtime, but it was filled to the brim with friends and family and fun and that's truly how I want my weekends - I just need a day after Sunday to recoup.

  1. Hosting so many visitors, even though they're family and so much fun, always wears me out. I bet you are loving being closer to everyone now that you're back from the West Coast. I think you've earned a nap.
