::: This weekend was unfortunately a very sad one for our family. Joel's cousin was tragically killed in a snowmobile accident at the young age of 32. We got the call on Wednesday morning and instantly the week changed. It rocked Joel's entire family, and while we came together and celebrated his well lived and loved life - it was difficult. The service on Sunday was nothing short of beautiful and gut wrenching, and to be honest, we are still digesting the new reality.
Since there is never any eloquent way to really move on from such loss - I'm just going to....with a truly broken heart.

::: Over the weekend - right before most of Joel's family arrived - we had tickets to see Disney on Ice. We weren't sure how Drew would do for the entire show, but honestly, she did fantastic. The first half of the show kept her entire attention - and Leo was truly in awe the entire time. We packed plenty of goldfish for the second half and left right after the Frozen performance, and had such a fun, special morning.
We had friends at the same show, so before we drove home, we met them for pizza and beer which was a perfect way to cap off the fun event.
::: So last week - thanks to a few readers suggestions! - I convinced my sisters to do a "Day in the Life". All three of us did actually - all of us, sadly, on Wednesday, but we have all of the pictures and now I just need to organize them into posts and have my sisters caption them. They both had a lot of fun with it - and they thought that next time we should do it on a weekend day to see how truly different our days are ;)
::: If you live in Chicago - you know - but the weather has been crazy. We have gotten snow literally dumped on us for the last few days - and this upcoming week is supposed to be the coldest temperatures in years. It's only Monday, and I've already got cabin fever.
Thankfully we leave for Mexico in two weeks so the countdown is ON.
And I will now always be booking a trip to Mexico for February, because holy shit Seasonal Affective Disorder is a real thing.
So very sorry for your family's loss. The pictures from the Disney on Ice show that y'all went to are just so sweet. I'm glad that y'all were still able to attend the show.
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry for your loss. Praying your family is able to remember him with smiles and happy tears. And that Disney on Ice looks so fun! I'll have to look into that for my daughter.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss. Any loss is heartbreaking especially for someone so young. Praying for healing and clear memories that are cherished.
ReplyDeleteI'm so, so sorry to hear of your loss. That sounds absolutely awful. I'm glad you were able to have some bright moments in your week though—Sammy and I took my cousin's daughter to see Disney on Ice a few years ago and she was enamored. And I loved it just as much ;) Stay warm tomorrow!! xo
