After Christmas, Joel had to go back to work - and with the kids home full time without any sort of activities plus the chaos and over stimulation that comes with the holidays - I was about ready to lose my mind.
We spent a lot of time at a gymnastics training center that had open gym a little more frequently for Christmas break - and that was about the only thing that got us through!
I was mostly excited for New Years Eve to roll around to honestly start moving on to the next chapter - but we didn't let the day go without celebrating of course.
Last minute, we decided to head to Bowlero with good friends of ours. It's kind of like a Lucky Strike, but they went all out for a kids "noon years eve" and we honestly had the best time.
It started at 10:30 am which was perfect - we had 2 hours of bowling, lane side lunch and pitchers of beer, arcade games, football games, loud music, and tons of NYE accessories. The kids AND parents had a blast, and we counted down at noon to ring in the new year.
When we got home around 2, everyone took naps - including me - while Joel prepped an amazing dinner for the two of us ( ahi tuna poke and jumbo crab cakes) once we put the kids to sleep for the night.
We opened up a really nice bottle of wine we had been gifted for Christmas - ate dinner in the dining room - and played darts and my new favorite board game.
It was honestly a perfect day for me - friends, lots of games, food, drinks, family, and early to bed! I couldn't have wished to ring in the new year any better!
